A damp Sparrowhawk
Once again, the wet weather means that wellies are recommended when visiting. Some paths are accessible in shoes, most in boots but to get around the whole site, wellies would be best.
This rather damp Sparrowhawk was a nice surprise in front of the Scottish Water Hide this morning.
Plenty of wildfowl are still using the site, Whooper Swan numbers continue to change with new arrivals almost daily. They are likely coming up from Norfolk as they begin their migration back to Iceland for the spring.
Over 4000 Barnacle Geese are regularly around the site each day, we've had no sign of the Richardson's Cackling Goose for over a week.
Big flocks of Lapwing, Golden Plover, Curlew and Redshank have been making the most of the flooded fields. These conditions are ideal for them.
One of the Otter cubs was playing in the Whooper Pond at the 2pm swan feed yesterday, coming very close to the wheelbarrow during the feed!
If you're looking for something special to do on Mother's Day, why not join us for the unique
experience of our Commentated Swan Feed and delicious Afternoon Tea.
