Wildlife artist on display during the Arundel Festival

Hornbill by Desiree Hart

Wildlife artist Desiree Hart will display her paintings in the rustic Outlook In building at Arundel Wetland Centre from August 22-27, as one of the stops on the 2012 Arundel Gallery Trail during the Arundel Festival. Desire’s recent painting of a Horn-bill she photographed in Botswana was short listed for the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation Artist of the year award 2012.

Visitors to Arundel Wetland Centre will have the opportunity to meet and talk to Desiree about the trips to Africa that inspire her work. “Where possible I draw and paint animals in their natural environment. I consider myself extremely lucky to go on Safari to gather reference material and to see how these magnificent creatures live and survive. It is so important to keep this environment safe for their survival and well being.” says Desiree Hart.

Desiree has worked as a fundraiser for the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust for many years, to raise awareness of the importance of wetlands worldwide to wildlife. “One of my favourite places to visit is Botswana and the Okavango Delta, the world’s largest wetland protected by the Ramsar Treaty.” says Desiree Hart.

Desiree Hart’s paintings will be displayed from 10:30-5pm daily from August 22-27. WWT Arundel Wetland Centre is located on Mill Road, Arundel, West Sussex. The centre is open from 9:30 am – 5:30 pm seven days a week. There is an admission charge to visit the WWT Arundel Wetland Centre. For more information click here.
