Wildlife Sightings for 11th April 2023
6 Willow Warbler, 4 Blackcap, 7 Reed Warbler and 10+ Chiffchaff singing in the spring sun
6 Willow Warbler - entrance lakes, south route, sheltered lagoon
2 Little Ringed Plover - main lake
1 Wheatear - marsh
1 Common Sandpiper - wader scrape
1 Redshank - main lake
3 Siskin - wildside
4 Blackcap - sheltered lagoon, wildside
7 Reed Warbler - singing in the reedbeds, main lake, sheltered lagoon, wildside
2 Oystercatcher - main lake
4 Snipe - wader scrape, sheltered lagoon
3 Swallow - over main lake
3 House Martin - over site
50+ Sand Martin - over site
10+ Chiffchaff - across the site
Lots of Great Spotted and Green Woodpecker feeding around the site. Blackbirds collecting earthworms in the growing wildflowers. Starlings nest building on the buildings and hides. Tits flitting between nests and feeding amongst fresh buds. Cetti's warblers singing loud from most pond boundaries and hedgerows. Sand Martins feeding and sand martin bank very active with great viewing from the peacock tower and wader scrape hide. Two pairs of Great Crested Grebe, one on the main lake and the other on the sheltered lagoon. Still in wonderful spring plumage.
