Wildlife Sightings for 11th July 2023

Sedge Warblers calling from marsh, plus Green Sandpiper and Common Tern

3 Sedge Warbler - singing around the marsh

30 Swift - over main lake

5 Reed Bunting juvs - south route, sheltered lagoon

1 Chiffchaff juv - sheltered lagoon

6 Blackcap juvs - sheltered lagoon

40+ Sand Martin - over site

20 Lapwing - main lake

1 Green Sandpiper - flew on to marsh late p.m.

1 Common Tern - main lake

Tufted Duck broods on wildside and the wader scrape. Two Pochard broods. Mallard broods amongst the collection birds and on the grazing marsh.

Odonata: Common Darter, Ruddy Darter, Norfolk Hawker, Brown Hawker, Broad-bodied Chaser, Four-spotted Chaser, Scarce Chaser, Downy Emerald, Emperor, Lesser Emperor, Black-tailed Skimmer, Blue-tailed/Azure/Common Blue/Willow Emerald Damselflies, Beautiful Demoiselle.

Butterflies: Peacock, Comma, Orange Tip, Small White, Large White, Green-veined White, Brimstone, Red Admiral, Speckled Wood, Holly Blue, Common Blue, Meadow Brown, Ringlet, Marbled White, Small Skipper, Large Skipper, Essex Skipper, Gatekeeper, Purple Emperor (8/7/23), Small Copper.

Bees and other insects: Red Mason Bee, Hairy-footed Flower Bee, Buff-tailed Bumblebee, Tree Bumblebee, Common Carder Bee, Bee-fly, Hover Fly sp,, Rustic Sailor Beetle, Red-headed Cardinal Beetle, Thick-legged Flower Beetle, Stag Beetle, Cinnabar Moth, Hummingbird Hawk-Moth, Six-Spot Burnet.
