Winter thrushes, waders and wildfowl
The road is closed at the Brow Well bridge near Ruthwell. If you are travelling to WWT Caerlaverock from the Annan or Carlisle direction you must come via Dumfries. Follow signs for the Crichton and then WWT Caerlaverock.
Apologies again for the lack of updates recently. Our network continues to be problem making updating the website and showing our webcams difficult due to our internet connection being extremely slow at times. It is very intermittent, so sometimes we can update as I am am doing now. Please be patient as we try to get updates out when we can. We hope to have a new connection in place by the end of November at which point we can resume regular updates and hopefully show our webcams again!
Still massive number of Fieldfare using the reserve at the moment, multiple flocks of over 100 birds are passing through and feeding in the Avenues.
Wader numbers are very good at the moment with big flocks of Lapwing and Curlew in the fields, Black-tailed Godwits and a couple of Ruff have been seen on the Folly Pond this week along with the odd Redshank. Thousands of Dunlin and Knot can usually be seen out on the Solway over the high tide at the moment with smaller numbers of Golden Plover and Grey Plover.
Barnacle Goose numbers are varying between 4,000 and 10,000 around the reserve at the moment, Whooper Swan numbers are also varying between 60 and 90 birds on the Whooper Pond.
