WWT celebrates successful year at People's Postcode Lottery's annual charity gala
WWT rubbed shoulders with celebs at the gala at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh to mark another exciting year, thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
WWT received a fantastic £600,000 from players in late 2017, which will contribute to all areas of the charity’s work in 2018 including projects that help save threatened wetland species, deliver fascinating nature learning experiences to children and connect people with nature.
Dozens of charities attended the 2018 People’s Postcode Lottery annual Charity Gala where it was announced that £93.4 million was awarded to charities and good causes in 2017.
WWT’s grants manager James Ravine attended the prestigious event. He said:
“Whether it’s muddying your wellies on an adventure trail or getting up close to some of the world’s rarest birds, we’re always looking at thrilling new ways to connect people with nature and wildlife. Thanks to the generous support of players of People’s Postcode Lottery we are able to continue to do this.”
The gala was a celebration of the phenomenal achievements of charities working across Great Britain and internationally that are supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. The lottery also took the opportunity to announce an increase to 32% of each ticket sale going directly to good causes.
The event was attended by Actor Emma Thompson, broadcaster Dermot Murnaghan and TV presenter Fiona Philips. Entertainment on the night was provided by Heather Small.
