Wetland Engagement Advisory Service

We work with organisations around the world to deliver projects that help tell the stories of wetlands and wildlife.

Live interpretation

What we offer

We have planned and designed walks, talks and tours for a variety of projects around the world. We can plan and deliver well-structured and paced briefing notes that will drive deeper nature connections and inspire and engage your visitors.

Case Study - Barker Langham

Tour Guide briefing notes were created for client Barker Langham, UAE. These included anecdotal stories about Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, former President of the United Arab Emirates and his relationship with the landscape.

Education

What we offer

We can provide bespoke learning programmes for your wetland, drawing on our experience delivering award winning education programmes.

Case Study - Generation Wild

Generation Wild is an award-winning education programme designed for schoolchildren by WWT. It combines school-based preparation and a magical site visit with follow ups online and with families. It uses a variety of interpretative tools and through storytelling and adventure creates a lasting and meaningful connection with nature.

Informal learning

What we offer

At WWT we have a culture of continuous improvement, thanks to our robust evaluative and review processes. Drawing on these, we can review and refresh your resources and education facilities, working to a range of budgets.

Case Study - Churches Conservation Trust

A peer review was carried out for the Churches Conservation Trust of their interpretation at Evesham and Shrewsbury in the UK. The report focused on specific audiences and provided additional recommendations for resource development.

Signage

What we offer

Design that is inspiring, focused and consistent is the key to the success of WWT’s interpretation. Thanks to our experience working across WWT’s wetland centres, we can deliver cohesive interpretation plans across your wetland site.

Case Study - Montgomery Wildlife Trust

An Interpretation Plan was delivered for Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust on the Dyfi Wetlands Observatory in the UK. It covered vision and overall experience and included storyboarding and mapping, as well as concept designs and costings.

Strategic planning

What we offer

We offer a bespoke interpretation design and planning service for visitor centres, exhibitions and events. We can ensure this ties in with the identity and take-home messages of your site.

Case Study - Severn Estuary

Working with the local community, a series of interpretation points across the Severn Estuary were delivered that revealed the stories of the landscape’s rich natural and cultural heritage. The designs worked in cohesion with the environment, using natural colours and textures to deliver interpretation that sits in harmony with nature.

Training

What we offer

We have extensive worldwide experience delivering bespoke training on wetland management and communication, capacity building, education, participation and awareness (CEPA).

Case study - CEPA Poyang Lake

We have delivered workshops and courses on CEPA for Poyang Lake, Chongming Dontan and Nanjing University in China.

Exhibit and experience design

What we offer

WWT wetland centres have many worldclass, ‘themed’ environments across their sites that deliver inspiring and immersive experiences. We draw on this work to create innovative and exciting exhibits, featuring dynamic storytelling and media that will tell the stories of your wetlands and their wildlife.

Case Study - Tongli National Wetland Park

A Concept Interpretation Plan was delivered for Tongli National Wetland Park development in China. Interpretation themes were discussed, with storylines focussed on location, nature, history and culture and protection. Within these themes there was a focus on primary and secondary messaging.
