Wetland Secrets Plant House

A visitor sniffs wetland plants on a wooden shelving unit

The Wetland Secrets Plant House is a traditionally thatched barn. The outer room is an event space with benches and makes a great rain shelter. You will often see owl whitewash on the floor under the rafters. In spring look for swallows’ nests.

The inner room has displays of the traditional uses of wetland plants as food, medicine, and in the home. The air is rich with the aroma of drying herbs and flowers.

You are welcome to enter the inner room, even though the door is closed. This is to prevent birds from getting trapped inside (and to stop cheeky moorhens from making a mess!)
