Gentle walks and talks this autumn

Autumn Foraging Walk
As the leaves start to fall, the berries and fruits of the wild harvest are all around us. Take a gentle walk with Jonathon Huet, a bush craft instructor with a classical woodland traditional approach to the art of foraging.  Discover the possibilities with plants this autumn at Arundel Wetland Centre.  Forage through the reserve with Jonathon to learn which plants can provide food, medicine and other natural resources to enrich our lives. Then learn the bush craft way to light a fire and use foraged ingredients in a simple recipe. The walk is two hours long on Sept 15 at 11am costing £10 per person, space is limited.

Later that afternoon at 2:30 pm Jonathon Huet will present 'Walk with Trees' in the Sand Piper Theatre at Arundel Wetland Centre.  Here Jonathan will talk & sing the stories, poems and traditions around the bountiful plants and trees of Great Britain. “Each plant and tree has a story to tell.” says Jonathon Huet.

On Thursday’s in September medieval herbalist Sheila will lead an easy walk from the Wetlands Secrets plant house, along the gentle pathways of the Arundel Wetland Centre reserve. Sheila will identify wetland plants and discuss their historic and social uses. Afterwards, return to the Wetlands Secrets building to create a woven willow circlet. In rainy weather the talk will take in the shelter of the wetland secrets building. This walk free included in your admission price to Arundel Wetland Centre, but space is limited.

Adults will also enjoy a Pimms & a Paddle evening on Sat 15 Sept. Visitors can experience a quiet boat ride,  a chance to pond dip and a glass of Pimms from 6-8pm for £10 per person.
