Walk off the festive excess at WWT Arundel
We all wake up on New Year's morning knowing we’ve rather overdone it on turkey, chocolates and bubbly, so why not wrap up warm, get out in the fresh air and work off those festive excesses with a visit to WWT Arundel Wetland Centre – one of the few attractions open on New Year’s Day and throughout the holiday season.
The holidays are a wonderful time for the whole family to visit. After time spent indoors eating, drinking and playing with presents, New Year's Day is a great opportunity for the family to get out and about to witness the magical wildlife spectacles nature has to offer.
There is always something to see and do at a WWT Arundel Wetland Centre, 364 days of the year. It’s an easy, safe place to enjoy the wonders of wetland wildlife. There are comfortable hides, easy buggy and wheelchair friendly pathways, a fully stocked cafe and gift shop and disabled and parent & baby facilities. The free Wetlands Discovery Boat Safari is also wheelchair accessible.
Craneberry Fest continues at WWT Arundel during weekends and school holidays in January. Families can create a cranberry pine cone bird feeders, enjoy cranberry treats in the cafe and discover why this wetland berry is named after cranes, the endangered wetland bird that WWT works to protect. Also kids can pick up a a Tick n' Twitch card at the admission desk and tick off the birds you spot during your visit.
