Weekend of wildlife photography on Nov 16-17
The gorgeous WWT Arundel Wetland Centre reserve has always been a popular spot for wildlife photography. During the Nov 16-17 Wildlife Photography Weekend photography buffs can pick up tips from photography guides and professionals on how to capture wildlife with your camera, all included in the regular admission price to WWT Arundel Wetland Centre.
Paul Stevens is Grounds Manager at WWT Arundel and an avid photographer who captures striking images used to promote the WWT and to accompany his weekly column in the Sussex newspapers of the Johnson Newspaper chain. Paul will speak on the How, When & Why of Bird Photography on Sunday morning.
Professional wildlife photographer David Plummer is just back from the Galapagos Islands to give a presentation on A Year of Wildlife Photography on Sunday afternoon. David teaches photography courses at WWT Arundel and leads international photography excursions.
On both days WWT Guides will lead walks to the hides that reveal the best places to photograph the rich variety of wildlife around the reserve. Join them with your camera for tips on the best places to look for recent winter wildlife arrivals.
Adobe Photoshop can correct minor mistakes in your photos and restore old images. Find out the basics of airbrushing, cloning and filters during Adobe Photoshop: an Introduction presented by WWT Marketing Manager Pat Warren both days in the Kingfisher Room.
Wildlife photographer and artist Desiree Hart will exhibit her work in the main gallery all weekend. Desiree is happy to chat with visitors about her trips to Africaand the photographs she takes that inspire her work. Desiree was short listed for the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation Artist of the year award in 2012.
Visitors to WWT Arundel can also glide through the reed beds in silent electric boats to view water voles from the colony re-established in 2005 and visit the new comfortable Discovery Hide which features binoculars and telescopes to help beginner birdwatchers. As well as attracting wild birds, the site is home to a collection of 250 birds of rare and endangered species from around the world. You can even hand feed some of them, including the friendly Hawaiian Nene geese.
