Butterfly survey

Wed 11 August in the morning with a wind:

39 butterflies of 9 species

  • 5 large whites
  • 3 small whites
  • 1 small copper
  • 2 common blues
  • 10 red admirals
  • 3 small tortoiseshell
  • 1 comma
  • 2 gatekeepers
  • 12 meadow brown

Bat Survey

10 species recorded on the Echometers

  • Soprano pipistrelle
  • Common Pipistrelle
  • Nathusius pipistrelle
  • Noctules
  • Natterers (2 passes at different locations)
  • Daubenton’s bats
  • Brown-long eared bats
  • Grey long-eared bats (2 passes)?
  • Whiskered bat

Loads of visuals of Daubentons spotted over the water. Nine glow worms spotted in the car park and a choir of young tawny owls attempting calls.

Reptile survey

Sun 14 August

Two tins had grass snakes, the adult under tin 12 had some tail damage and the second under tim 26 was a fast mover, shooting off quickly.All the tins had plenty of red ants with larvae and pupae.
