Bittern in the reedbeds

A bittern was spotted in the reedbed and this elusive heron was been seen again on Monday.

A bittern was photographed (above) in the reedbed last Saturday by regular visitor Phil Court. The bittern was seen again later that morning by our Warden Richard. The bittern reappeared late Monday afternoon flying deeper into the reeds to roost. It has been five years since we spotted a bittern winter onsite at Arundel!
