Cormorant numbers high
Last Tuesday we hit a high of twelve cormorants between the Ramsar and Sand Martin hides. The cormorants are also fishing on the Arun Riverlife lagoon.
Sightings from WWT wardens on their morning walk. Common species like coots, mallards moorhen and Canada geese are not listed.

Wetland Discovery reedbed channels: kingfisher, little grebe, tufted ducks.
Arun Riverlife lagoon: 2 pochard, 12 tufted ducks, 1 kingfisher

Ramsar/Sand martin hide: 9 cormorants, 24 lapwing, 2 grey herons, 1little egrets, 8 snipe, 14 greylag geee, 5 shelduck, 4 tufted ducks, 3 teal, 5 gadwall.
Tranquil Trail: 2 greenfinch
Scrape hide: 5 teal, 1 wigeon, 1 water rail

Sand Martin hide: 3 tufted ducks, 4 shelducks.
Scrape hide: 2 wigeon, 5 teal, 1 mandarin duck.

Arun Riverlife: 1 cormorant, 23 mallards, 9 tufted ducks, 1 pochard, black-headed gulls.
Wetland Discovery reedbed channels: 17 tufted ducks.
Lapwing hide: grey heron.
Ramsar/Sand martin hide: 8 snipe, 1 lapwing, 2 little egret, 2 cormorants, 1 grey herons, 8 shelducks, 2 shoveler, 2 tufted ducks, 3 teal, 4 gadwall.
Scrape hide: 15 teal
Tundra pen: 1 pintail.
