Yes! We have seen our first Swallow, as Paul keeps saying (rather optimistically) Summer is here!
Water Voles are also showing well all ovet the reserve, feeding on the fresh shoots.
Sightings from the Sand martin & Ramsar hides today include: 4 Lesser Black back and 3 Common gulls, 11 Tufted duck, 9 Pochard, 3 Shoveler, 11 Shelduck, 3 Cormorant,
10 Gadwall, 2 Teal, 2 Mandarin, 8 Canadian & 2 Greylag geese, 5 Lapwing, 1 Snipe,
2 Little Egret, 1 Little Grebe.
From the lapwing hide: 2 Shelduck, 9 Teal, 5 Lapwing, 2 Gadwall.
And the Scrape hide: 3 Gadwall, 4 Pochard, 1 Shoveler, 2 Teal and lots of Black headed gulls!
Reserve sightings: 3 Buzzard, Water rail, Black cap, Cetti's warbler, Reed bunting, Wren, Chiffchaff, Goldfinch, Green finch, Song thrush, Nuthatch, Dunnock, Chaffinch, Mallard and ducklings, Coot, Moorhen.
