Male warblers singing & tufties hatching
Last week’s summery temperature have brought out the warblers. Cetti’s warblers, blackcap, reed warblers and reed bunting were all heard singing onsite. The heat brought the dragonfly and damselflies larvae out of the ponds to emerge as adults.
The oystercatchers at the Coastal Creek still have their young one with them. A second pair of oystercatchers have hatched three chick at the Sand Martin hide but we can only see two chicks now. Lots of black-headed gull chicks hatching on Arun Riverlife islands and tufted ducklings spotted from Ramsar hide and from the Lapwing hide.

Coastal Creek island: oystercatcher pair with one chick.
Lapwing hide: 1 grey heron, 2 pairs of gadwall, greylag pair with one gosling, pair of Canada geese,1 coot with chick, 3 lapwings – female nest sitting two males mobbing the grey heron.
Ramsar & Sand Martin hides: 2 cackling geese with 4 goslings, pair of pochard, male lapwing displaying, 12 sand martins, 1 oystercatcher on roof of hide, and 1 Egyptian goose
Scrape hide: 2 lapwing
Raised pond: 10 dragonfly exuviae (casing left from larvae emerging to moult to dragonflies)

Lapwing hide: 3 lapwing – female sitting
Ramsar & Sand Martin hides: 3 cackling geese and 4 goslings, 12 male mallards and 4 female mallards, 45 gadwall early morning 30 flew off immediately, 2 male shoveler, 2 pairs of pochards, 7 male and 4 female tufted ducks, 17 adult Canada geese and 2 goslings, 5 grey lag geese, 20 sand martins, 2 oystercatchers on roof, 38 black-headed gulls, 2 shelducks

Reedbed hide: 1 male reed bunting singing.

Sand martin hide: 8 gadwall, 1 shoveler, 1 Egyptian goose, 2 oystercatchers with 2 chicks on island

Ramsar and Sand Martin hides: 3 shelducks, pair of shoveler, 6 male and 5 female tufted ducks, pair of pochard, pair of oystercatcher with 2 chicks, 1 kingfisher, 2 Canada geese, 2 gadwall, 14 sand martins, 2 lapwing
Scrape hide: 2 teal, 2 pairs of tufted ducks, 1 greylag goose
Wood loop: 9 goldfinches, 2 great tits, 1 blue tits, 2 Canada geese with two goslings.

Ramsar & sand martin hide: 16 sand martin, 1 pochard, and oystercatcher pair
Lapwing hide: 2 lapwing – alarm calls and flights
Scrape hide: pair of mute swans with 3 cygnets.
