Sedge warblers at last

Two weeks later than last year at least three Sedge warblers have returned to the reedbed.

Other migrants returning include Swallows, House and Sand martins, Hobby, Willow warbler and Chiffchaff.

Water voles have been showing really well today.

Common toads have begun to spawn today again after a delay of around three weeks on last year.

Butterflies on the wing today have been Comma, Brimstone and Small tortoiseshell.

Bumblebees have also been busy on the willow catkins.

On the reserve:

Mediterranean gulls, Shovelers, Water rail, Buzzard, Peregrine,Lapwing.
