Snipe bonanza!

Incredible numbers of Snipe with between 70-80 visible most days, mainly from the Scrape and Sand Martin hides. True numbers we can only guess at, but in recent times this is an all time high.

Kingfishers are still continuing to delight visitors, again the scrape, ramsar and sand martin hides being the best chance of seeing these wonderful birds.

Cormorants continue to fish the scrape and ponds around the reserve now that the ice of last week has retreated.

Good numbers of Bullfinch can be seen on most days at the moment.

Other sightings to expect: Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Nuthatch, Great spotted and Green Woodpeckers, Song and Mistle Thrush, Reed Bunting, Grey Heron, Lapwing, Teal, Shoveler, Wigeon, Pintail, Little Grebe, Water Rail, Peregrine, Buzzard, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk, Goldcrest, Firecrest, Longtailed tit and Water vole.
