Water rail, teal & gadwall sightings increase
Teal numbers are increasing with 22 spotted in the morning from the Scrape hide on Saturday.
Water rail sightings are increasing this week with sightings on n Arun Riverlife, Wetlands Discovery and at the Scrape hide. (photo above by Romney Turner). Handfuls of gadwall can be seen from several hides – Arun Riverlife, scrape and Sand martin hides. A sprinkling of sand martins and swallows moved through last Friday.
Look out for black caps, Cetti’s warblers, a kingfisher and a green woodpecker, all sighted this week. Plus little grebes are still showing on Arun Riverlife and the Scrape hide.

Ramsar hide: 1 kingfisher, 9 gadwall, 1 tufted duck, 2 shoveler
Wetland Discovery: 1 water rail, 2 gadwall, 4 tufted ducks.

Ramsar hide: 1 cormorant, 8 greylag, 6 Canada geese, 2 gadwall, 2 moorhen, 1 black-headed gulls, 10 mallards
Sand Martin hide: 1 mute swan, 28 black-headed gulls, 2 moorhens, 1 coot, 6 mallards, 7 gadwall, and 1 teal
Reedbed: 1 marsh harrier at 4.45pm
