Wildlife sightings

The last week has seen a constant of level of around a dozen Shoveler with a high of 19 from the sand martin and scrape hides. Snipe numbers have been increasing in the same areas with 12 being seen this morning including one very close to the Scrape hide. Kingfishers have been seen on a regular basis and Grey herons have numbered 6 some mornings.

The new Arun riverlife has already become a home to several Water voles with one latrine being found in the waters edge vegetation directly out from the main building viewing area. A Stone chat was also seen feeding on the far side of the area on Wednesday. Coots are dominating the water body with a count of 40 this morning. A Mediterranean gull was also seen amongst the Black headed gulls during the week.

A pair of Hobbies were seen mid week probably taking advantage of the remaining dragonflies still hawking over the reserve.
