Wildlife sightings

The weekend provided us with 20 Wigeon from the Ramsar hide and a hunting Sparrowhawk took advantage of the 400 Starlings coming into roost in the main reedbed, along with the Pied Wagtails and Reed Buntings.

Snipe have been more evident with around a dozen being visible and I am sure many more hidden away in the newly cut areas of the reedbeds.

Red Kites continue to be seen along the hanger, over the reserve and  the water meadows to the east. Peregrines, Buzzards and Kestrels add to the bird of prey assemblage.

Water voles continue to be seen during the milder spell with sightings on wetlands discovery, reedbed and long path ditch.
