Wildlife sightings

 

This week has seen many changes and new sightings.

Canada and Greylag geese goslings are now showing well and Long tailed tits are now busy feeding their young in various nests around the reserve.

Swallows and House martins are beginning to increase as they arrive or move through.

Reed and Sedge warblers continue to increase in the reedbed, but still awaiting our first Cuckoo to arrive.

A Kingfisher has been seen several times today on Arun riverlife and Wetlands discovery.

During recent bat surveys, five species have been recorded so far and one the Nathusius pipistrelle again migrating through the reserve.

Red tailed and Garden Bumblebees today in the wildlife garden with numerous Red mason bees using all of the bee hotels around the reserve.

Quiet night in the moth trap last night with only 5 species and 7 moths in total. Brindled beauty and Nut tree tussock were amongst these.
