Caerlaverock wild highs, Wed 13th Jan
"Road Closed" signs are still up from B724 at Clarencefield. However the road is quite passable, the floods having fully receded. There are no access problems for vehicles at all. Access in turn to the hides in the wider area here requires wellingtons. The birds remain widely distributed in the flooded conditions, but large flocks of Golden Plover mixed with Lapwings are particularly spectacular, as are the 100 or so Redshank on the Folly Pond. The Ring-necked Duck is again on Whooper Pond, as are good nos. of Whoopers - 140 today. Otter yet again causing panic among the birds on the Folly Pond yesterday, just before 4pm
Today's spring tide is at 14:25, 9.6m
