Accessibility during autumn and winter

During the colder months, the reserve can be wet and muddy so waterproof footwear is recommended. Those with limited mobility or using push wheelchairs may find traversing the Avenue and Saltcot Loaning unsuitable. Please call us on 01387 770200 for more info.

Green Sandpiper & Black-tailed Godwits - Wader passage has begun!

It seems Autumn wader passage has begun already with the first Black-tailed Godwits on the Folly Pond and a Green Sandpiper on the Whooper Pond first thing this morning. It flew, so could be on the Folly Pond or Flood Ground now.

Plenty of butterflies out this week with very good numbers of Painted Lady and Common Blue in the Meadow and alongside the Lochar Water.

Swallow chicks are in the Teal Pond Hide and Picnic Area now.

There is a reduced service in the coffee shop today, we apologise for the inconvenience.
