Accessibility during autumn and winter

During the colder months, the reserve can be wet and muddy so waterproof footwear is recommended. Those with limited mobility or using push wheelchairs may find traversing the Avenue and Saltcot Loaning unsuitable. Please call us on 01387 770200 for more info.

House Martins Nesting

Some of our returned House Martins have begun renovations of their nesting sites on the Farmhouse Tower. There is plenty of mud for them to utilise as the water levels have now dropped on Folly Pond, great for waders such as Black-tailed Godwit and Redshank as well. Quite a bit of Lapwing activity down and around Lochar field still. Golden Plover have been around the past few days but no sightings of them yet this morning. The primrose bankings down the Avenue are now hitting their peak floral display and are well worth a look.
