Reserve Update Thursday 28th December

With the current cold snap, the Whooper Swans have started returning to the Whooper Pond once more for the feeds.  Having said that, they were slightly reluctant to leave their roosting area on the Folly Pond first thing this morning!  The Back Pond and Teal Pond are both now frozen.  There was a lovely group of four female Bullfinches feeding on seed heads down next to the Back Pond hide first thing this morning.  A small flock of twenty Linnet were also present feeding in amongst the Barnacle Geese in the fields from Newfield Hide.

The Merlin, Peregrine and Great Egret were once again visible on the Merse during the day yesterday.  The Great Egret even made a brief flying visit up to Back Pond in the morning.
