Accessibility during autumn and winter

During the colder months, the reserve can be wet and muddy so waterproof footwear is recommended. Those with limited mobility or using push wheelchairs may find traversing the Avenue and Saltcot Loaning unsuitable. Please call us on 01387 770200 for more info.

Cold, crisp morning

Opening times:
10am - 5pm every day except Christmas Day

It is a cold, crisp start to the day with lots of frozen ponds. This means that Whooper Pond is busier than normal with a good range of species present including two drake Pintail. The Green-winged Teal has been back around the past couple of days, last seen in Corner field, but no sightings so far today. The Merse remains good for raptor sightings with the male Hen Harrier around yesterday and a Peregrine on a post today.
