Black-headed Gull chicks and Reed Warbler singing
More baby birds to report! The Black-headed Gull colony in the Flood Ground have begun hatching chicks. This morning there were at least 5 chicks on the rafts, hopefully with more to come. We will aim to keep the water levels up to deter predators and give the chicks the best chance of survival.
The Reed Warbler is still singing in the Peter Scott Trail. This is a scarce record for us and could be a first breeding record for us as well.
Still 10 Teal and a Wigeon on the Folly Pond which is unusual for this time of year.
Last night we counted the Soprano Pipistrelle bat roost in the Visitor Centre loft, a good count of 316 bats emerged from the roost as sunset.
