Accessibility during autumn and winter

During the colder months, the reserve can be wet and muddy so waterproof footwear is recommended. Those with limited mobility or using push wheelchairs may find traversing the Avenue and Saltcot Loaning unsuitable. Please call us on 01387 770200 for more info.

Latest Sightings - 21st July

Another wet morning on the reserve, so waterproofs and wellies would be recommended.

Autumn wader passage could start at any minute, and we have some good muddy margins on the Folly Pond so do keep your eyes peeled. A juvenile Wimbrel was in the Corner Field on Wednesday.

Our local Osprey chicks will be taking their maiden flights very soon. Keep an eye on the webcam! Once they have left the nest we will see them more often perched on the merse learning to fish with their father!

Our Osprey chicks have now been ringed by Forestry Commission Scotland two males & one female. All blue rings with numbers PY5 ♂, PY6 ♂, PY7 ♀. PY5 & PY7 have been fitted with satellite tags so we can watch their progress south in the autumn.

Todays high tide is at 11:04, 8.8m
