Latest Sightings - 29th September - still southerly winds
Still no sign of the first migrating Whooper Swans and still only 140 Barnacle Geese on the reserve. These southerly winds are likely holding up the arrival of any more. Keep an eye on the weather and when you see the winds swing round to the north, we could see a major influx of wildfowl.
Duck numbers are still increasing, with good numbers of Wigeon and Teal on the Folly Pond. There are excellent views of Teal coming very close to the new Scottish Water Hide in the Paddock!
At least 7 Little Egrets have been seen on the reserve recently, along with 4 juvenile Ruff on the Folly Pond and a juvenile Goshawk at Saltcot Merse Observatory.
