Phalarope on Folly
Not to sound like a broken record about the Folly Pond but once again it has delivered. A Red necked phalarope has dropped in and is busy feeding in the deeper water. Wader numbers in general are building with over 20 Curlew, still good numbers of Lapwing and up to 8 Black-tailed godwit. With the weather being a bit more blustery today it could encourage some of the Redshank and Greenshank to drop in too. Mammal sightings are pretty good as well with one of our Brown hares observed in the Avenue near to the Peter Scott Observatory today and a Weasel yesterday afternoon at the start of the Loaning.
The Pasture Pathway has been re-opened today, although conditions underfoot are a bit squelchy. The Meadow and River Walks are now closed for the Season.
