Primrose in Bloom

It is lovely to see a shot of colour down the Avenue as the Primroses are coming into bloom. The name actually derives from the Latin prima rosa meaning the first rose of the year. On a still, warm day (we might get one soon!) our banking of primroses actually give off a light perfume. The windy weather has pushed the waders to take shelter around the Folly Pond with over 30 Curlew and a small number of Black-tailed Godwit. Two Oystercatchers have also taken up residence on the Whooper Pond in the past week, staking a claim for when it comes time to nest.
