Reserve Update Sunday 6th August

Avenue Tower is the place to be this morning with a multitude of young birds present in the hawthorn tree at the entrance and also within the cover crop.  The goldfinches are still yammering for their parents to feed them while a solitary juvenile spotted flycatcher was more independent.  The willow warblers are looking right bonny with their sharp fresh plumage.  Large flocks of linnets are still congregating down at Saltcot Merse Observatory and are worth a look.

Four snipe were spotted on the Folly Pond yesterday but no sign of them so far today.  It is getting to that time wader numbers will begin to increase around the reserve.

Todays high tide is at 12:32, 8.4m
