Reserve Update Thursday 3rd August

Decided autumnal feel to the place this last couple of days.  One black-tailed godwit was feeding on folly Pond first thing this morning and eight curlew, two lapwing and 56 teal were present in the Flood Ground Teal next to Avenue Tower.  Highlight from the Avenue Tower was the presence of a rather wet and bedraggled Kestrel on one of the windowsills  with another individual observed gliding behind.

There are still a number of birds that are ignoring the bad weather and continuing with raising young.  Blackbirds and Sedge Warblers have been seen carrying food to young in nests down the Avenue walk.  The Swallow was once again sitting on the nest in teal Pond hide this morning which may indicate an attempt for a second brood.

Todays high tide is at 09:06, 7.4m
