Reserve Update Thursday 6th October - Barnacles are arriving

The influx of Barnacle Geese slowly crept up through the day yesterday with 1,200 recorded during this mornings count in Corner Field.  These birds have now moved down onto the Merse and are best viewed from Saltcot Observatory.  The Great Egret is also down on the merse and yesterday afternoon visitors were treated to close up views of a female Merlin perched on a lump of driftwood by the Obs.

Osprey Webcam

The winter webcam is now showing the Whooper Pond. The first few Whooper Swans have already shown up and later in the winter we enjoy the superb spectacle of up to 300 of them along with a variety of wild ducks and geese at feed times - 11:00 and 14:00 daily
