Accessibility during autumn and winter

During the colder months, the reserve can be wet and muddy so waterproof footwear is recommended. Those with limited mobility or using push wheelchairs may find traversing the Avenue and Saltcot Loaning unsuitable. Please call us on 01387 770200 for more info.

Reserve Update Tuesday 20th December - American Wigeon is Back!!

The Drake American Wigeon has once again returned to the site.  He was spotted yesterday feeding on the fringes of the Folly Pond with a flock of 700+ Eurasian Wigeon.  This morning he has moved down to the Flood Ground so best views are had from the Avenue Tower.  Elsewhere, large numbers off Black-tailed Godwit remain on Folly Pond with a few redshank mixed in for good measure.  A male Hen Harrier actually flushed the pool first thing flying along the fence to Saltcot observatory.  Eight Long-tailed tits decided to come in close and visit the peanut feeders in front of the new hide in the Peter Scott Trail.

Todays high tide is at 15:15, 9.2m
