Reserve update Wednesday 3rd October - Hen harrier and Peregrine

The Barnacle Geese seem to be enjoying the fields around the reserve with good views to be had from Silver and Gold hide this morning.  One of the hybrid Geese was present in the flock.  It was a good morning for raptor sightings down at Saltcot Merse with a male hen harrier making a leisurely path along the outer merses and a Peregrine sweeping past the Obs on various occasions. While down there also have a scan through the Gorse bushes as there is a significant amount of Goldfinch and Linnet activity at present.

Our Whooper Swans continue to be flighty with only four in for the feed yesterday but twenty in the locality.  We have started to record returning named swans so, as per last year, we will keep updating this page as more arrive.  Be sure to check back for updates!
