Oystercatchers Prospecting

Our nesting raft on the Folly Pond has drawn some interest from a pair of Oystercatcher, although, as in previous years, they have some competition from the Mallards. The flooded pasture is proving a real draw with mobile flocks of Golden Plover and Lapwing utilising the fields around the reserve. A count of 720 Golden Plover was recorded in the area behind the Folly Pond on Tuesday afternoon. Redshank numbers have dropped down and the Spotted Redshank has not been spotted for nearly a week. The Green-winged Teal remains on the Folly Pond.
