Sunday 2nd October - a trickle of Barnacles
10 Barnacle Geese are feeding in Low Middle Field, along with 270 Pinkfeet. These are probably the first arrivals since the early group of 36 came in a fortnight ago and may just be the first genuine migrants from Svalbard for the winter season. Just one Whooper Swan visible on site first thing though... Early days! The Great Egret is still out on the merse from Saltcot Merse Observatory

Osprey Webcam
The Ospreys have now fledged and are not returning to the nest very often so we will soon be starting our blog as we follow the satellite tagged chicks on their first migration.
As October approaches we will hopefully be switching to our winter webcam showing the Whooper Pond, where some 300 Whooper Swans will spend the winter.
