Accessibility during autumn and winter

During the colder months, the reserve can be wet and muddy so waterproof footwear is recommended. Those with limited mobility or using push wheelchairs may find traversing the Avenue and Saltcot Loaning unsuitable. Please call us on 01387 770200 for more info.

Close alert

Sunday March 26th

Another fine spring day. Perhaps this our sunshine ration for the year...! Whooper Swans are largely away now; 19 at the 11:00 feed today, with a further 60 or so preferring a grass diet in fields at Ruthwell. Still plenty of Barnacle Geese to find, mostly on the merses. A few Chiffchaffs singing at various locations and a lone male Garganey on The Folly Pond as I type...

Todays high tide is at 12:05, 8.9m
