Be a Nature Explorer this summer
Be a Nature Explorer this summer!

This summer holiday, children of all ages can discover their inner adventurer by becoming fully fledged Nature Explorers at WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre. Here, they can follow in the footsteps of Scott of the Antarctic (father of WWT’s founder Sir Peter Scott) by going on an array of ‘wild’ adventures and recording them in a special Nature Explorer passport. For each completed task, they get a sticker for their passport, working their way up to a special gold sticker if they complete six or more activities.

Adventures to tick off include hand feeding rare birds, crawling through tunnels, hunting for big bugs, pond dipping, spotting a flamingo chick and lots more. And for our bigger explorers, they can jump aboard our canoe safari (over 5s) to see what they can spot on this kilometre-long watery treasure trip or they can hire a bike and dash through the exciting wildlife trail. There are even bikes with stabilisers and toddler trailers for little explorers.

WWT Llanelli Centre Manager, Nigel Williams said:

“Being a Nature Explorer at WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre is great fun for all the family and really helps kids get interested in all sorts of wildlife. Exploring the natural world is one of the most fascinating gifts you can give children and encourages them to protect nature in the future. We’ll be on hand to help Nature Explorers complete some of their challenges, so come along and join us for an unforgettable summer of adventure.”

Young adventurers will begin their voyage of discovery by picking up a Nature Explorer passport from the front desk and collecting stickers for each of the activities they take part in. What’s more if children don’t have enough time to fill in their passport in one day, they can visit again for free* to complete their mission.

Summer 2015 at WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre has just got much more exciting. So get back to nature with fun family exploration throughout the school summer holidays.

*Kids go free with a stickered passport. Until 31st August 2015 when accompanied by a full paying adult. Or if you are a WWT member your child can bring a friend for free.
