Help save British ladybirds this Fathers' Day

Ladybirds are important in our gardens, feeding on the aphids that attack garden plants. Unfortunately, numbers of British ladybirds are falling due to the invasion of a foreign species, the harlequin ladybird, which has now spread to South Wales. The harlequins compete with British ladybirds for food, are less tasty to predators, and even eat our smaller two-spot ladybirds.

We are trying to help British ladybirds by building ladybird towers, designed to provide a safe home for garden ladybirds. You can create one at our Ladybird Tower Workshop on Fathers’ Day Sunday 17 June, decorate it and fill it up with cosy bedding to take home. Towers cost £3 each and make the perfect gift for a dad who loves his garden!
