New Postcard Adventure Trail at WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre for the Summer Holidays
The school summer holidays are here, and families looking for a fresh adventure that will deepen their connection with nature can enjoy a new postcard adventure trail launching on July 20 at WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre.
The trail is one of many activities planned to offer a summer of wonder for all exploring the wetlands.
Giant postcards, designed by children’s illustrator Ella Beech, share personal messages from nine animals who live in wetland habitats around the world. Dotted across the 500-acre wetland site, those on the adventure trail at WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre will use a trail map to find the postcards and discover new wetlands and the animals that thrive within them.
Created to offer an unforgettable experience, the postcard trail encompasses all corners and habitats of the WWT site. Explorers will not only read about what’s happening in wetlands across the globe but also see, up close and personal, the interesting species enjoying the summer months at WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre.
This includes a 73-strong flock of Caribbean flamingos bringing some pink glamour to South Wales, multicoloured dragonflies dancing across the water, and courting red-crowned cranes bugling in the summer sun. Plus, visitors can meet the world’s rarest goose – the Nene from Hawaii.
Families completing the trail will get a special WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre postcard, so they may share their amazing experience and what they’ve learnt about wildlife and nature with a loved one.

The postcard trail is part of an ongoing programme of summer 2024 activities at WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre that includes wild play, daily pond dipping, moths, minibeast hunts, flamingo and stork talks, den building and much more.

Participating in WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre’s postcard trail is included with an admission ticket or is free to WWT members. The trail is running from Saturday 20 July until the end of the school summer holidays.
