Construction work is ongoing to replace the old footbridge to the reserve. An alternative route is available, but the Heron's Wing and Peter Scott hides will be closed until the work is complete. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Summer holiday fun!

Summer holiday activities run from Saturday 21 July until Monday 3 September!

Join us for minibeast hunting, pond dipping, craft activities, flamingo watching and of course our fabulous canoe and bike trails! For more information see http://www.wwt.org.uk/visit-us/llanelli/things-to-see-and-do/events-calendar/2012/07/21/summer-holiday-fun/

The large number of early winter migrants can still be seen from the British Steel Hide, especially at high tide. You can read the news at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-18825120

For the latest bird sightings, visit: http://www.wwt.org.uk/visit-us/llanelli/latest-sighting/

Unfortunately the bad weather we’ve had continues to affect the birds. Six of the thirteen flamingo eggs laid were fertile, but only four adults are still sitting on nests. We might have to send the other two eggs to another centre to be fostered by parents whose own eggs were infertile. The first chick is due to hatch early in week beginning 23 July!

There will also be some special activities on during the summer holidays. On Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 August you can join us for flamingo fun days, where as well as our usual activities there will be extra flamingo-themed activities on offer. More info at: http://www.wwt.org.uk/visit-us/llanelli/things-to-see-and-do/events-calendar/2012/08/04/flamingo-fun-days/

Over the bank holiday weekend at the end of August, you can join us for blackberry picking walks (here’s hoping the weather hasn’t affected them too badly!) http://www.wwt.org.uk/visit-us/llanelli/things-to-see-and-do/events-calendar/2012/08/25/blackberry-days/

And at the end of August, we have a special evening High Tide Watch and BBQ, see http://www.wwt.org.uk/visit-us/llanelli/things-to-see-and-do/events-calendar/2012/08/31/high-tide-watch-and-bbq/ for more details.

There will also be plenty of self-led trails to keep the children occupied both outdoors and indoors, and lots to keep you busy come rain or shine!
