The breeding season begins!

To celebrate national nest box week, on Friday 15 and Sunday 17 February we ran robin and blue tit nest box building workshops. 35 nest boxes were produced all together, mostly by children, with the expert tuition of volunteer Eric James, who didn’t get his fingers hit with a hammer once!

Each child also created a stocking full of soft nesting materials to hang up in their garden, so they could watch the birds collect things to take to their new home.

Love isn’t just in the air for garden birds, spring is definitely on the way with two of our swans and several pairs of nenes already sitting on eggs. The first goslings are expected to arrive around the middle of March – check our twitter feed (@wwtllanelli) or facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/wwtllanelli) for hatching updates!
