Breeding Bird Survey Introduction and Practice
Are you a birdwatcher and would like to help us better understand how Welsh bird populations are faring? Join Gethin Jenkins-Jones from the British Trust for Ornithology for a free morning session to find out more about the BTO/JNCC/RSPB Breeding Bird Survey (BBS) and how you could take part in it.
By joining the Carmarthen BBS team, you’ll be making a really valuable contribution. This survey allows us to track changes in our bird populations across the UK, helping us to inform their future protection.
BBS requires only around six hours of your time each year, and all it involves is two visits to a 1-km square, where you’ll note the birds detected while walking a simple transect.
Whether you’re thinking of taking part in the survey for the first time or an existing volunteer who’d like a refresher, be sure to join us at this welcoming and supportive session.
Please note this isn’t a bird identification session. It is aimed at volunteers who are relatively confident in bird ID by sight, song and call for the commoner birds that breed in Wales.
Booking is required for this BTO event. Spaces are very limited. Click on this link to book through BTO.
