Construction work is ongoing to replace the old footbridge to the reserve. An alternative route is available, but the Heron's Wing and Peter Scott hides will be closed until the work is complete. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Recent Sightings 2nd - 6th January

Highlights - Long-tailed Duck, Spoonbill, Peregrine and Willow Tit

British Steel Hide

The Long-tailed Duck is still being seen on the Dafen Scrapes actively feeding. The Spoonbills are still being seen on the saline lagoons, mainly around the high tide period. A nice selection of waders are around including, Spotted Redshank, Greenshank, Redshank, Dunlin, Lapwing, Curlew, Black-tailed Godwit and Snipe.

Millennium Wetlands

A Peregrine Falcon has been terrorising the wildlfowl and waders on Deep Water Lake. A Willow Tit has been seen along the Northern Loop, hopefully it will stick around and find a partner in the spring. A good count of 24 Snipe have been seen roosting on the stony islands at Deep Water Lake.
