Join us in a celebration of British wildlife. Meet hedgehogs, amphibians and reptiles up close and learn more about them from wildlife experts. Get closer to nature with walks, talks and activities. Our team will show you some of the wonderful birds, animals and plants that call WWT London Wetland Centre home.

BBC TV presenter Kate Silverton will launch the Summer of Wildlife day at 11am. Don’t miss her interviews with wildlife experts on stage in the courtyard. There will be plenty of experts on hand all day to tell you about the fabulous creatures that live in the UK. The Bat Conservation Trust, the RSPB and Butterfly Conservation Trust are just a few of the twenty wildlife organisations participating in this festival of nature.BBC Summer of Wildlife

Join experts on a bird watching walk to see which species are around or grab a net to try your hand at a bit of ‘citizen science’ on one of our freshwater surveys. If plants are your passion our horticulture warden will show you around our sustainable gardens and offer tips on how to attract wildlife to your own green space. In fact there are a whole host of walks and talks for you to participate in throughout the day; you don’t need any previous experience, just bags of enthusiasm!

And there will be plenty for younger visitors to do too, from pond dipping and storytelling to wildlife trails and crafts.

As well as all the outdoor activities, join us in the theatre to hear the fascinating tales of BBC wildlife film-maker Paul Williams, just back from filming in Borneo. And BBC Cameraman and underwater film-maker, Jack Perks, will give tips on how to locate the wildlife you want to photograph and how to engage with your photographic subject.
