Memorial services and wakes

London Wetland Centre offers a unique setting for a variety of Memorials and Wake Receptions.

Our nature reserve with its scenic mosaic of lakes, pools and meadows are home to countless wildlife species including wetland birds, kingfishers, butterflies and damselflies, it provides a haven for wildlife and people.

Located on the banks of the River Thames in Barnes, it is set in over 100 acres, and is only a ten-minute drive from Hammersmith.

Within this spectacular setting, we have unique rooms which are available to hire with ample free parking for guests.

At WWT, our experienced events team will manage your wake reception or memorial service with compassion and sensitivity. We provide a professional but informal and friendly service.

Our team will take away the stress of organising your day, leaving you free to share memories with family and friends in a relaxed and beautiful environment.

We offer a range of catering options and packages allowing us to accommodate individual requirements including reception drinks on arrival.

Our menu includes hot/cold finger buffet with fresh fruit and cakes, to three-course sit down meals.

Water's Edge Room

The Water’s Edge Room, with its light and spacious interior is ideal for events with a larger number of guests. It offers dual aspect, beautiful views across the lakes and pools of the London Wetland Centre and opens out onto a wooden decked balcony providing an additional space for your guests to relax. It provides a tranquil setting to reflect and remember your loved one. There is seating capacity for a maximum of 110 guests with catering options available to meet your requirements. Alternatively, it can accommodate up to 175 standing.

Observatory

The Observatory offers breathtaking views of the center and is a split level space ideal for a range of large or small intimate gatherings. It provides the ideal opportunity to stroll among the lakes, ponds and wetlands providing the ideal setting for your reception. Standing capacity of up to 160. Available from 11:00.

Tower Room

This is an octagonal room with large windows on 2 sides offering a high vantage point over the reserve. It is ideal for small informal receptions for up to 25 people.

Catering

The highly acclaimed catering is organized in-house for your convenience with a hospitality package that can be catered to your requirements.

Our Hospitality Package includes

• Glassware and crockery
• Serving staff
• Free car park and admission to the reserve

A menu that includes

• a selection of sandwiches and wraps with seasonal fillings

• coffee and tea
• fruit juices still & sparkling water,
• elderflower cordial
• Additional hot and cold buffet items are available.
• We offer a staffed bar which is available on request.
