Wildlife Sightings for 10th September 2024

3 Little Egret, 1 Cormorant and 50 House Martins on site.

3 Little Egret - wader scrape, marsh

1 Cormorant- main lake

60 Shoveler - main lake, scrape

50 Gadwall - main lake, scrape, sheltered lagoon

70 Teal - scrape, main lake

40 Pochard - main lake, reservoir lagoon

1 Blackcap - mostly sheltered lagoon

1 Kestrel- sheltered lagoon

50 House Martins- over site

20 Chiffchaff - across the reserve but mostly sheltered lagoon

1 Dunnock- heard over wild side

1 Great Tit- Heard at Headley Hide

Cetti's Warblers, Reed Buntings and Reed Warblers can be found in the reedbed and any other reed fringes. Look for Sedge Warblers at the scrubby edges of the marsh, reservoir lagoon and main lake. Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs are active in the scrublands of wildside, south route and sheltered lagoon. Watch the electric fences around the marsh for perching Whinchat or Stonechat.

Dragonflies: (September 8th survey) Migrant Hawker, Ruddy Darter, Common Darter, Willow Emerald Damselfly.

Butterflies: (September 8th survey) Large White, Small White, Green-veined White, Speckled Wood, Red Admiral, Brown Hairstreak.
